HP Gardena , Jl Sabang 32a. Unusual "hot pot" restaurant, where you choose the ingredients - ranging from fish cakes (Rp4500) to meatballs (Rp4500), salads and spicy sauce dips.
Mel's Drive-in , Jl Sabang 21. Inexpensive fast-food shack which does a good-value Rp18,500 breakfast, and two beers (including Guinness) for the price of one during happy hour (3-5pm).
Natrabu , Jl Sabang 29a. Flashy but excellent mid-priced Minang restaurant serving Padang-style food from West Sumatra and live Minang music every evening (7-9.30pm).
Paradiso 2001 , Jl Sabang 30. Excellent, cheapish little vegetarian joint, hidden down an alley next to the Gardena Restaurant. Closed from Fri at 5pm until Sun at 6pm.
