Jakarta Moving On, By Bus

The capital has good bus connections to all points in Java, and many cities on neighbouring islands too. There is usually a range of prices for every destination, depending on the type of bus you're travelling in. Tickets bought from an agency in town are more expensive, but as some of the buses leave from outside the agency, you're saved a trip to the bus station. If your bus does depart from the station, leave at least an hour and a half to get from downtown to your terminal.

Most buses to Central Java, East Java and Bali depart from Pulo Gadung station. Buses to West Java, including Bogor and Bandung, use Rambutan Kampung station, 18km south of the city centre near Taman Mini. The third station, Kalideres, is 15km west of the city centre, and serves destinations to the west of Sumatra, including Merak and Padang, but rarely sees tourists.
