Most of the trains travelling to West and Central Java destinations begin their journeys at Gambir station, including those to Yogya, Solo and Bandung. There are two special offices (daily 7.30am-7pm) selling tickets for the luxury trains, such as the Parahiyangan express to Bandung and the Argolawu express to Yogya and Solo. There's also a tourist-only window on the main concourse.
Of the other stations, Kota , near old Batavia, is the busiest. Although Kota is on the same line as Gambir, some of the trains departing from Kota do not stop at Gambir, and many start their journey at Gambir and miss out Kota. To reach Jalan Jaksa from Kota, catch bus #P1, #P10, #P11 or #AC01 to the Sarinah department store, about a ten-minute walk away. From there the buses continue south to the Welcome Monument. The other two train stations, Tanah Abang and Pasar Senen , are further out of town, have fewer services and rarely see tourists.
