Jerusalem Opening Hours

Most shops and businesses have opening hours from around 8am to 7pm. Jewish-owned shops may well close early (around 2pm) on Friday, the start of the Jewish Sabbath, and stay closed all Saturday; they also close for religious holidays and the eve preceding them. Muslim-owned shops and offices may be closed on Friday and on Muslim religious holidays, and Christian-owned ones on Sunday and Christian festivals. Both Muslim and Christian shops in East Jerusalem and the Old City may close for Palestinian national holidays, and also when strikes are called, often at a day's notice in response to political events.
