Le Coq D'Or , 121 Jl Ampang (tel 03/242 9732). Housed in a converted tin towkay 's mansion. It's worth coming for a drink on the verandah, even if you don't want to sample the French, Malay and Chinese cuisine (RM40 a head). Dress smartish.
Modestos , Lorong Perak, just off Jl P Ramlee (tel 03/248 9924). Sprawling pizza and pasta joint with a lively bar.
Rasa Utara , BB Plaza, Jl Bukit Bintang. Northern Malay menu: try the ayam percik, a hot, sour chicken dish from the state of Kelantan. Moderately priced.
Seri Angkasa , Menara KL (tel 03/208 5055). Revolving restaurant which serves an excellent lunch, high tea and dinner buffets atop KL's landmark tower. Smart dress (no shorts and sandals) essential for dinner, which costs around RM55 a head.
