Boats to Batam in Indonesia 's Riau Archipelago depart throughout the day from the World Trade Centre (7.30am-7pm; S$17 one-way), docking at Sekupang, from where you take a taxi to Hangnadim airport for internal Indonesian flights. There are also four boats a day (S$49 one-way) from the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (bus 35 from Bedok MRT) to Tanjung Pinang on Pulau Bintan , also in the Riau Archipelago; info and tickets from Dino Shipping (tel 276 9722), or Bintan Resort Ferries (tel 542 4369). From Kijang Port, south of Tanjung Pinang, there are boat services to Jakarta.

It's also possible to travel betweeen Singapore and Malaysia by boat. Bumboats to Kampung Pengerang on the southeastern coast of Johor Bahru (daily when full, 7am-4pm; 45min; S$5 one-way) leave from Changi Village, beyond the airport. Newer, more reliable Ferrylink ferries depart from Changi ferry terminal for Tanjung Belungkor , in Johor, a little way east of Changi Village, departing here daily at 7.30am, 11.30am, 4pm and 8pm (45min; S$32 return; tel 545 3600); check in one hour before departure. Ferries to Tioman Island run from the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (March-Oct daily except Wed at 8.30am; S$140 return).
